Who are we?
Kamalayan means “awareness” or “consciousness” in Filipino. We aim to uplift and inform young people so that they may move forward responsibly, conscious of their power and their crucial role in creating change. We’re an organization led entirely by Filipino youth, active since 2008 and based in Toronto, Canada.
What do we do?
- Address systemic racism through culture and storytelling
- Host educational workshops and cultural events celebrating Philippine heritage
- Youth leadership development
- Community outreach
- Arts and media skills training
