Join Kamalayan Konsciousness, Malaya Canada, and BAYAN Toronto this Friday, September 23rd for a Cultural Night – Kulturang Pagtatanghal: Walang humpay na pag-alaala sa lagim ng Batas Militar! This week we are remembering the 50th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines by Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr which lasted for 14 years. The night will feature a mix of music, poetry, and art, and dinner will be provided. The entrance fee is $10 or Pay What You Can.

During the era of Martial Law the broad masses of Filipino people both in the Philippines and Canada joined forces to resist oppression under this dictatorship. It is important for us in the diaspora to remain connected to our culture and commemorate our history so as to reject revisionism and not repeat this violent past. Activists and artists have the power to inspire change and fight for true freedom and democracy for all!

We are still looking for performers and exhibitors! We invite artists, musicians, poets, dancers, and any creatives to reach out. Please fill out this form if you’re interested to participate:
